Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is extra government funding given to schools to help children who may need additional support. It helps schools provide things like extra teaching, resources and activities so all children have the chance to succeed. The allocation is calculated according to the intake of the school and the children that have been in receipt of Free School Meals in the last six years or have been in care for six months or longer.  At Spring Hill Community Primary School, all governors and staff share a strong commitment to doing our upmost to remove any barriers that might hinder a child’s development.  We are determined to close any gaps in attainmement between those children eligible for pupil premium and other children.  We intend to maximise the achievement for all our children.

Who receives Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium funding is given to pupils who:

  • Are eligible for Free School Meals (now or in the last 6 years)

  • Are, or have been, in care

  • Have a parent in the armed forces

Free School Meals eligibility

Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals if you receive certain benefits, including Universal Credit or Income Support.

Some families with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) may also be eligible.

If you are unsure, please speak to the school office — we are happy to help.

How is the funding used?

The school reviews Pupil Premium spending every year to make sure it supports children effectively. Decisions are based on regular evaluation, research and pupil needs.
