For the next few weeks we have the pleasure of working with an athletics coach.
We have worked on our running technigue and built up our sprint start.
We all had a fantastic time.
This half term we have been working with Mr Brown; we have created our own song about an erupting volcano and also edited together a quick news report for the survivor reports we wrote in English.

As part of our topic work - Natural Disasters - we have built our very own volcaones.
We used erupting them to kick off our science topic - Properties and Changes of Materials.
On Thursday 24th May, we took part in a survival workshop. The instructor, Tom, showed use how to scavenge for wood, build and light a fire using a flint and steel and then how to make bread and cook it on an open fire.

Year 1 loved their trip to Thotnton Hall Farm. The sun was shining and everyone learnt lots and had fun!
We fed lambs and calves, held a rabbit, guinea pig and a duckling, collected eggs, found fossils, met red deer and played in the big barn.

To aid us with and consolidate our learning from the World War 2 topic we enjoyed a trip to Bury Transport Museum. Here we got hands on with artifacts from the 1940's, learnt about the difference in money, looked at what we would need to pack and got to sit in a real Anderson shelter.
Year 1 have been 'down on the farm' this week to launch our latest topic for the rest of this half term. It wasn't quite the real farm just yet; we will go to Thornton Hall Farm on Tuesday 22nd May.

1R had a fantastic music session with Mr Brown today. We practised our Phonics through beat boxing! Harris was our superstar beatboxer, he used the sounds b, t and ck. We also explored technology and music using the electric keyboard and laptop to create melodies.
As part of our Porperties of Materials learning, we investigated which metal was the best conductor of electricity.
We found it quite a challenge to find out what some of the metals were.
We also enjoyed finding out if all metals were conductors.
A number of weeks ago, we planted a variety of different vegetables as part of our Science topic (life cycles) and Creative Curriculum topic (WW2 - Dig For Victory). The time had come to plant out into the garden.
Year 4 spent the Spring term learning about the Inca Empire.
They learnt about the sun god Inti and made a recreation of his mask.
The children were shown a variety of interpretations of his mask, and were able to design and create their own.
Year 1 made the most of the fantastic weather today. We worked in teams to locate signs of the season changing. We used our tick list to find blossom, buds, birds and seedlings to name a few.
