To help us we have our amazing teaching assistants ...
What do we learn? How do we learn?
At Spring Hill our Early Years Department consists of two reception classes. We learn in an indoor and outdoor environment specifically created to deliver the Early Years curriculum.
Learning is a mixture of child-led play and activities working with adults. The curriculum is delivered through the prime areas and specific areas. Prime areas are PSED (Personal, Social, Emotional development) Communication and Language and Physical development. Specific focus areas include Maths, Literacy, Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding of the world.
The Foundation Stage monitors pupil progress and supports the transition of pupils from entry on the first day of school until their progression to Key Stage One.
Key learning in this department includes phonics, reading, mark making, developing fine and gross motor skills, counting and early ICT skills.

Our 'Weekend Workout' is given out each Friday and is to be returned to school on Monday. They are designed so that the children can share their learning with family members. Please help your child to complete their homework, discussing it and asking questions to help reinforce their understanding. If your child is absent or the weekend workout gets misplaced you can find a copy here.
